Reebok decided to launch their own digital wearables that go by the name ReebokImpact, and while it is similar to the way NFTs work, you cannot try it on an NFT marketplace but rather on Instagram.
When it comes to the world of innovation and technology, the future is now. As many industry giants seem to be in a race to create the next big thing and one-up their competition by introducing something revolutionary, Reebok is one of the latest contributors to the trend.
Reebok is a British footwear and clothing company that was founded in 1958. It was sold to Adidas in 2005, and subsequently to Authentic Brands in 2021, which is its current parent company.
Here are some major facts that you should know about Reebok’s new digital wearables.
Origin
ReebokImpact came about when Reebok partnered with AI and multiverse innovators from Futureverse. This enables users to take advantage of top-notch technology and create unique types of digital assets. ReebokImpact officially launched on May 9, 2024.
Types of Wearables
The main focus is sneakers at the moment, as Reebok is mostly known to be a footwear company. However, this is only the first step of the journey that Reebok and Futureverse are embarking on together. It is likely that in the future, their portfolio may increase from shoes to shirts, pants, caps, and all types of wearables we can imagine.
Futureverse’s AI will enable users to create their own variants of the Reebok Pump, Club C, or Classic Leather models. The sneakers may even be transferred to games, such as Roblox or Fortnite.
The design of the sneakers will not cost any money for the first four that sneakerheads want to create. The intention is to make it easier for people to connect the physical world with the digital one. This innovative approach will not only revolutionize the sneaker industry but also provide a unique and personalized experience for users. By bridging the gap between the physical and digital realms. Futureverse is set to redefine the way we interact with fashion and technology.
As we know, NFTs are compatible with games, as many famous titles have made use of NFTs in the past. Reebok, with the help of Futureverse, is building on this trend, and further innovating it.
New Experience
ReebokImpact allows users to virtually try on different Reebok products through augmented reality technology, providing a unique shopping experience. This innovative approach to digital wearables aims to revolutionize the way consumers interact with fashion brands online.
This means anyone can do it, and it is easy to do. There is a live chat where you can communicate exactly what you want and even alter it if, for example, you do not like the placement of the art on a shoe.
The goal is to design your dream sneaker, with your favorite memory embedded into the design. Moreover, the actual image that you choose will be displayed on the sole of the shoe.
Purpose of ReebokImpact
The purpose of ReebokImpact is for Reebok to further its influence on the market by entering the world of digital wearables. By allowing customers to design their own sneakers, Reebok is able to engage with a wider audience and cater to individual preferences. This innovative approach sets Reebok apart from other fashion brands and enhances its brand image as a trendsetter in the industry.
Before the launch, Reebok CEO Todd Kinsky stated: “Our ethos champions the principle of moving with purpose and stepping out into the world as a participant, not a spectator,” He also added: “Our partnership with Futureverse and the upcoming launch of Reebok Impact enables us to transcend traditional boundaries of innovation to engage our consumers in the digital evolution of our products in ways that redefine the realm of possibility.”
The Futuverse co-founders, Shara Senderoff and Aaron Mcdonald shared this sentiment by saying: We couldn’t be prouder to introduce this initial experience as part of our long-term partnership with Reebok. Together, we’ve pushed the boundaries of both personal expression with the exemplification of life imitating art and art imitating life. Leveraging AI creates an easy-to-navigate user experience that meets sneaker fans where they are.”
Competition
Nike has been Reebok’s primary competition when it comes to digital assets. It launched its own NFT platform called .SWOOSH, which enables its users to enter competition with digital shoes. The winner will be awarded a physical copy of the winning design.
DressX teamed up with Diesel to create Meta Avatars, which are meant to imitate their physical designs.
Reebok’s parent company, Adidas, also indulged in the digital world. It collaborated with Sepn to launch the NFT sports shoe collection.
However, Reebok makes it even easier for users to indulge, as you only need an Instagram account to start designing, making that much more available to a wide audience.
Final Words
Reebok has launched its own digital wearables, ReebokImpact, in partnership with AI and multiverse innovators from Futureverse. It is the right step in the direction of bridging the online and offline worlds. Only time will tell whether this will be a success and more similar projects will follow, or whether the public will not react well
